The Cupkeeper story started at Ghent University as a student project. Looking at all event and festival waste generated we started thinking… Cardboard waste is unnecessary… It is bad for the environment, the cleaning costs are high and very few times the road to the bar is fast and without any hassle. We thought – what alternatives are there for sustainable events that want a eco-friendly solution to cardboard waste that is functional, modern and at an affordable price? Most cardboard cup holders are provided by the brewer, but what about a durable solution that could be reused for many years?
We searched far and wide and couldn’t find any options that were functional, modern, sustainable, and available at an affordable price. As a result we designed the Cupkeeper to comply with the latest event sustainability standards by making a product that is recyclable, easy to use, robust and durable.

(Live Nation Belgium)
Until five years ago we used cardboard trays. But festivalgoers threw these away.
Thousands of cardboard trays had to be cleaned up, separated from festival cups and finally recycled.
The Cupkeeper has been an excellent alternative:
- The Cupkeeper is not left behind since fans like the product and the RW branding on it.
- The Cupkeeper speeds up the bar handling of drinks. Festivalgoers take six festival cups in one hand (or even twelve beers in two hands).
- The Cupkeeper is sold at all bars in RW and the net profit is nice.
Keep your cups full of joy
We want to improve event sustainability by providing eco-friendly solutions to cardboard waste that help shape the event as innovative and fun.
